Nintendo Shouldn’t be Blamed for Rising Prices, Ex PlayStation President Explains

Former PlayStation Boss Shuhei Yoshida explained player need to expect high gamer prices after Nintendo revelad the $80 Switch 2 games.

The Nintendo Switch 2 revealed the full lineup on April 2, 2025, with some titles like Mario Kart World, Donkey Kong Bananza and many more.

Nintendo fans looked at the Mario Kart costs $80 and making it the most expensive Mario game ever.

Looking at the former PlayStaion boss Shushei Yoshida, people need not be surprised that the game prices are going high, and it is going to happen no mater what if Nintendo doing it first or not.

In an interview PlayStation, Yoshida was asked about the recent price raise by Nintendo for the games like Mario Kart World.

He replied that he think it was going to happen now or later, maybe not from Nintendo, but it was going to happen eventually. Later he said we all live in contrasting times, where the inflation is real and significant, and people need to expect games which having more ambitions will be expensive to develop and they will cost more.

Everything in video games are more advanced and have more technological demands and which means they require more resources. So each publisher or manufacturer is set the price for the games acording to it. 

Well soon after the release of Nintendo Swirch 2 game prices many people shared there thoughts on social media, also with fearing about the GTA 6 cost price.
