League of Legends has come now with many things over the years, all the way from a massively popular game with a bad reputation to a multimedia franchise. League of Legends is about to go beyond boundaries for its 5v5 MOBA with the television show and several new games set in the IP.
With the years of different teams at the Riot Games, League of Legends developer and there are shifts in quality and focus go with them. With the League of Legends’ reputation already in the a bad phase. The main hot was the choice for the company to get into the Trading Card game might become a harm for there company.
League of Legends is going to enter in the world of trading games. The digital card game LoR, which is not receiving meaningful updates out of PvE elements, and the sidelined in favor of Riftbound, a physical TCG which had hopes to compete with the likes of Pokemon with the likes of Pokemon and MAGIC: THE GATHERING as the new card stop pack pickup.
Riot Games will be moving away from the design philosophy of Legends of Runeterra, which was to create a card game that was available to anyone without having the time to spend money on the packs, in favour of the pseudo-gambling norm is TCG collecting.
Riot Games has reportedly been in a financial hole for a long time now, having Arcane being a major money sink, even though with the massive growth of fandom. The thing which supposed to bring profits has made a controversial decision from Riot Games, the removal of Hextech Chests got the backlash from the community which was later undone. Well, the community thinks that the League of Legends is getting worse, also suffering from the lower quality skins, less updates or any means of good changes.
Riot been doing good with Ranked seasons, the system that was actually had some sense updates and changes in the map for the first time all the way from 16 years. Well there are things still doing on with the repair game and the company reputation in the community. The decision with the launch Riftbound, and this could be possibly be the sign of the worse things to come to the League or it could be the game unlikely savior.
The Riftbound could be the signal for devastating shifts, the focus away from the League of Legends. In the time when the players are consistently complaining about the lowering quality of the skins and art assets, wel,l it was Riot’s carelessness to shift resources over to the card game. The card game is not used in the house Riot artists and instead works with the incredible art studios, taking any focus away from the League of Legends. For now, it is working onreducing the risk of reducing the quality of the game and potentially showing Riot who has disconnected from the player.
The reception to the Riftbound from the League players, the fans of the other card games has been shockingly positive. It will not be a surprise if players who love the game and the characters want to own a collectable art piece.
With having potential of Riftbound success, there are chances about the shift of focus away from the League of Legends, and the saving grace of the game which it is needed. The main question comes from all this is that should the game be popular and profitable, which could give Riot Games more incentive and resources to improve the League of Legends.
