Recently, Microsoft revealed an AI model designed to generate visuals and action for video games, but the reaction of people was not as expected.
Muse was the name of the model, which was developed in collaboration with Ninja Theory, which is a game studio under Xbox Game Studios.
The gaming industry faces rising development costs and consumer spending, with players gravitating towards proven titles amidst economic uncertainty.
Fatima Kardar, who is the vice president for AI gaming, stated that they are using Muse to develop a real-time playable AI model that is trained on the other first-party games, and there is potential for the work to one day benefit both players and creators.
Later, the response from fans was less enthusiastic, and a post on Twitter by Geoff Keighley garnered over 16.9K views regarding the AII.
This video shows us the entirely new sequence of the Bleeding Edge gameplay, which was created by human guidance.
Fans are not impressed by AI model
There were many posts and comments that were against this new Muse; some also showcased the gameplay as generic and lifeless, while others commented on paper that it is cool but it kind of looks slop, and they don’t think it is quite there for an AI game.
Some statements were quite harsh; they said the real footage is terrible and AI games are just going to lead to another game crash, and many publishers won’t exit later.
But looking at Microsoft Muse is still in its early stages; there might be more upgrades and details to expected by the Game Developers Conference (GDC) 2025
We can say this is not the first time Microsoft is into AI; back in 2024, the company tested an Xbox AI chatbox for players and also an AI feature that could take screenshots of everything you do on the device.
