Rockstar Games has finally spoken about GTA 6, and this time they revealed the date of the game’s release.
When the Rockstar Games released the first ever trailer of GTA 6, which was at the end of 2023, they said at that time that they would be aiming to release the game in 2025.
On May 2, 2025, the developers of the game finally said that the release is being delayed until May 26, 2026. They said that they are sorry for the delay. The interest and excitement for the new Grand Theft Auto have humbled the entire team. They thank us for the support and patience as they work to finish the game.
They also said that with every game they have released, the goal was to try and exceed expectations, and Grand Theft Auto VI is no exception. They hope they understand that they need some extra time to deliver the level of quality which people expect and deserve.
Rockstar noted that they will be looking forward to sharing more information on the game soon.
Take Two on GTA 6 Delay
The delay confirmation comes for to Take Two earnings call. Many Grand Theft Auto fans had pencilled the date of the call, expecting an update or perhaps even a second trailer.
Rockstar Games publisher which had confidence which was in the game would not slip from the Fall 2025 release window. The following rumours and reports were new GTA title that had missed multiple internal deadlines, but there was no track for 2025.
CEO Strauss Zelnick did admit a slip to 2026, but Rockstar will be delivering an unparalleled entertainment experience regardless of the delay. Take Two also said they will support the decision to push the release back.
Zelnick said that they will support Rockstar fully, taking the extra time to release Grand Theft Auto VI, which promises a groundbreaking entertainment experience which exceeds audience expectations.
Borderlands 4 recently moved the release date, too, with many of them speculating on the clash of GTA 6. Even the developer said they do not want to overlap the anticipated title, so they had to go back to the drawing board.
