Greek God of War prequel game delayed until 2026:Report

Games industry insider Jeff Grubb claimed in the recent podcast episode that the forthcoming God of War game set is Greece which has been delayed until next year. God of War:Ragnarok officially tied up Kratos loose ends in the Norse Pantheon, which means leaving the fans wondering what the mythology Santa Monica Studios will also choose to tackle next. 

There are many players who speculated the ancient Egypt was the obvious choice, it also looks like the developers have chosen to bring the series back to the roots in Greece.

As told to the Jeff Grubb on the June 17 episode of the Last of the Nintendogs podcast, the power which had a vastly different vision in mind fot the next game in the God of War franchise.

Next God of War the side story might release in 2026?

On a Live Stream Grubb which says that the another title in the series is already in the works, which is allegedly take Kratos back to the homeland of the ancient Greece. Grubb also said that they have Marathon and the new God of War Greek project, which he heard was pushed back to 2026 too.

Rumoros also says that the game has already been in circulation for months now and in March 2025, Grubb posted on Bluesky that he was aware of the Greek of War thing coming out the later this year.

Henderson mentioned that the set is not in Egypt, actually set in Greece and it is gonna be the younger Kratos this time, which means hinting it would be a prequel of sorts.

There are certain that the game has been delayed but the leaks claim that the project is the basically a GOWxBlasphemous with the better art style than the Hades.
