Hearing enemy footsteps is a main thing in Battle Royal games like COD and Warzone, and while PC players have always been able to tweak settings to amplify footsteps audio, looking at console players have stuck with the default. That was changed thanks new PlayStation 5 update.
On top of bring back the Classic home screens, April 24 PS5 update which has brought the new Audio Focus setting. The designed amplify certain sounds like dialogue, party chat voice and footstep audio.
These things work similar way for the PC Loudness Equalisation setting. Looking at the loudness EQ levels out high and low audio, lowering loud sounds to boost softer ones, like footsteps. Audio Focus is being custom-designed for gaming, specifically highlighting footsteps noise, which can be super helpful in Black Ops 6 and Warzone.
How to Use Audio Focus

Audio Focus on PS5, to use this first, make sure to install the latest system update. Secondly, you have to make sure to use headphones as the setting which won’t work without them.
Now to use it:
- Go to the PlayStation 5 settings.
- Scroll down to Sound.
- Select Volume.
- Fined Audio Focus under Accessibility.
- Select boost high pitch to hear louder footsteps.
There is the suggestion that you do not put the adjustment level above Medium as it can be too loud, but we suggest trying out the different settings and see what works best for you and your headset.
After all this, you would be able to hear footsteps much more clearly and pinpoint exactly where are enemies are coming from, putting players on a more level playing field with those on PC.
